This work is a representation of a sunset at the end of the winter, when the evening is still very cold, but you start to feel the first little signs of the new season.
A colour, a smell, a bird song, a feeling.
In traditional Iroquois cosmology, the call of the bluebird is believed to ward off the icy power of Sawiskera, the spirit of the winter.
Its call caused Sawiskera to flee in fear and the ice to recede. It is not a surprise that they have been used as a symbol of happiness.
These three little creatures really fascinated me, for their weightless figures and their bright colours, with the union of deep blue and red-brown, cold and warm colours, winter and spring.
The white of the background is also a reminder of the winter, the cold, softened by the warm light of the sunset that glows with the copper leaf.
I love the sense of balance they express, of tranquillity, of companionship, as well as a sense of peaceful rest.

For prints, it is very important to find the proper frame.
A tip is to pick a frame one size larger than the print and add a mat Passepartout.
That will give the print plenty of room to shine.
Your local, professional framer will apply the highest quality to your custom frame.

CARE FOR YOUR PRINT
Fine Art Giclee prints do not need particular care.
The print frame has a glass top that protects it against dust and humidity.
The hand-gilded print, on the other hand, needs some attention. Do not position the framed print in direct sunlight, as the gold leaf could tarnish with time.
